Scuba Diving
Seal Life Divers Diving and Snorkeling
Tank-Ha Dive Center (tel. 984/873-0302; fax 984/873-1355; www.tankha.com), arrange reef and cavern diving. The owner, Alberto Leonard, came to Playa by way of Madrid and offers reef and cenote diving excursions. Snorkeling trips cost around $30 and include soft drinks and equipment. Two-tank dive trips are $65; resort courses with SSI and PADI instructors cost $75.
The Abyss This dive shop, located next to the Blue Parrot was recently recommended to me by a neighbor.  They always dive with the Abyss and like the fact that no group is every more than 6 divers and the guides are very close and 'in-tune' with the group.
Fishing
Puerto Aventuras Fishing Captain Walter Meade has nearly 15 years experience fishing in the Mayan Riviera, more than any of the competition. He knows the waters off Puerto Aventuras and its tricks better than anyone else.
Golf
  PLAYACAR GOLF CLUB

This is an 18 hole, par 72 championship golf course designed by Robert Von Hagge. This course is carved through the lush Mayan jungle where it awaits any golfer to come and tame it. Driving range and putting green. Rental clubs are available ($30). $150 US (includes cart, drinks & snacks) - $90 Twilight Rate (After 2 PM) - paseo Xaman-ha s/n, m 26 fraccionamiento Playacar, Playa del Carmen, Q. Roo.   Moon Palace Golf Club This 7,165-yard, par-72 Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course is a true championship course. Its dynamic layout requires golfers to navigate through native Mayan vegetation as well as numerous wetlands and strategically placed bunkers.
Sky Diving Skydive Cancun The staff at Skydive Cancún holds a National Championship Recognition. They'll train you for the jump and then accompany you on a flight over Playa del Carmen.

ATV Tour
ATV Explore ATV Explorer Jungle Tours is the original Playa del Carmen jungle tour. Ride an ATV through jungle paths, swim in a clear 60 foot deep cenote, explore caves, climb ancient Mayan ruins on this 2 hour tour. Right next to Playa del Carmen and Playacar, Mexico
Archelogical Tours
Chichen Itza The magnificent ruins of Chichén-Itzá are 2 1/2 hours away. It is the most visited archaeological site in the peninsula of Yucatan, due to its extraordinary architecture beauty and its geographical location. It was founded in the year 514 of our era by the priest LAKIN CHAN who was also called Itzamna. This is why their people were called since the foundation, chanes or itzaes. While I have not done it, I understand there are puddle hopper flights from the Playa airport which cost about $120 dollars round trip and takes only 45 minutes.
Tulum Two distinct cites of the Mayas. Tulum, built on a cliff at the seas edge, and Coba, built in the jungle with towering pyramids. Tulum has some of the most breathtaking views of the Yucatan coast and Coba has breathtaking views of the Yucatan Jungle from the tops of its magnificent pyramids. A must see tour.
Theme Parks
Xel-Ha Swim with dolphins,   walk through its jungle and discover all the magic that created this nature lover’s paradise.
Xcaret Xcaret, Natural park where the world must be seen, lived, reestablished and kept alive, for its healthy sojourn
Cozumel   Cozumel, a 30-minute ferry ride on one of the new faster boats, can be a day trip. And the Ferry dock is 2 buildings down from the Xaman-Ha condo. Much of Cozumel will seem like a more touristy, more Americanized, cruise ship over-run cheaper version of Playa...but the snorkeling and diving there is worth the trip.

Ferries come in two flavors Primerio and Segunda Classe.  The cost difference is $9 versus $7 dollars and they both seem to run on the exact same schedule once per hour.  It would make much more sense if they staggered their schedules but this, as much of Mexico, does not make sense if you attempted to squeeze it into the way things are back home.  'Vive Le Difference'
